Bee Stings (2003)
BeeStings was Designed for the 2003 World of Wearable Arts stage show. It was submitted into the children's section. The costume was inspired by an unfortunate accident I had as a child where I was stung by wasps. Beestings received a commendation award within it's section and is now a part of the Wearable arts permanent collection.
Kanak (2008)
Kanak was a finalist in the Inspired by Architecture section of the 2008 Wearable Art show. Inspired by the Jean-Marie Tjibaou cultural centre in new Caledonia designed by Renzo Piano. The architecture of the costume contains and shades the body as referenced by the cultural centre. The garment was awarded the Runner up Student Design Award.
Manaries (2005)
Manaries was entered into the 2005 Wearable arts show in the Bizarre Bra section. Manaries is an emergency Bra for men needing to get in touch with their more feminine side. Manaries was awarded a commended.
Animal Crackers (2005)
Animal Crackers was entered into the Children's section of the 2005 Wearable Arts Show. Inspired by the song Animal crackers in my soup this costume presents the new home for the animals where they inhabit the child's suit. The garment was a finalist and was awarded a commended in the children's section.
Mrs Sucky (2007)
Mrs Sucky is a joint entry with Cherry Marriott in the Children's section of the 2007 Wearable Arts Award. Mrs Sucky is my great grandmothers vacuum cleaner. She used to use it with such ferocity my mother was convinced it would suck up everything and anyone in it's path, including little children. It was a finalist in he children's section.
1000 Bombers (2007)
1000 Bombers was entered into the Open section of the 2007 World of Wearable Arts show. It was designed in memory of the men of Bomber command. Providing a cross-section of the fate of 100 men out of 55,000 the red disks are those who dies, whit those wounded or POW's, the Blue disks are of those who survived.
Human Beginnings (2006)
Human beginnings was a joint entry with Cherryl Marriott, entered into the Ultra-Violet section of the 2006 Wearable arts show. The four piece garment was inspired by the Canadian Haida tale of the Raven who tricked the Humans into leaving the sanctuary of their clam shell shelter.
Wooden Lace (2007)
Wooden Lace was entered into the 2007 Wearable Art Avant Garde section. The garment is a modern twist on the Arts and Crafts movement, using digital technology to recreate the intricate patterns of William Morris. Wooden Lace was a finalist in the Avant Garde section and is now a part of the Wearable Arts permanent collection.
The Niebelungelied (2002)
The Niebelungelied in the Rhubarb Tree was my first garment accepted into the wearable arts awards in 2002. The garment was inspired by a tale my dad told me about a little creature who lived in the bottom of the garden. The garment was a finalist in he children's section and awarded the runner up Wales and McKinley Silk award.
We will overcome war (2006)
We will overcome war was entered into the Children's section in the 2006 Wearable Art show. The garment was inspired by an insightful remembrance drawing by a 5 year old, and the view children have of modern warfare. The garment was a finalist in the children's section.
